Hire Me to Tell Stories

Podcast Your Stories

I've run podcasting workshops, courses and lectures for The London Podcast Festival, Pod Academy, University Collage London, Our Warwickshire, Southampton University, In the Dark Radio and more. I can offer these podcast-related services:

  • Turn your regular live event into a podcast - I record your event, edit it into a podcast and upload it for you according to an arranged schedule.

  • Train you one-on-one or in a workshop/course setting in the basics of how to podcast, and provide you with support while you set up your own podcast.

  • Give talks on podcasting.

I have run podcast making training workshops for organisations including Living Streets and Mind. I have also edited material for the BAFTA Guru podcast for example this episode with Emma Thompson or this week long special podcast season Two Worlds Meet.

“Dave and Jo were excellent trainers, who shared their knowledge in a patient and interesting way to help us develop our skills in making podcasts. We all really enjoyed the training.”

Lily Marsh,  Information Officer, Mind

"We commissioned Dave to work with us on a series of three podcasts to mark National Walking Month, our annual campaign to encourage everyone to walk more. Dave was fantastic to work with – we felt he had a very strong understanding of our brief and we were really pleased with the finished podcasts. Throughout the project he was accommodating, full of helpful advice and quick to respond to our requests. We’ve had really positive feedback and over 10,000 listens – we’re delighted that our first podcast project has been a resounding success. Thanks Dave!"

Hosting Your Stories

I hosted Stand Up Tragedy for 5 years and I hosted the Hackney branch of Spark London for 7 years. Perhaps you have an event you'd like me to host? I also have interviewing and panel hosting skills.

Performing Stories

I am available to perform stories at live events. The kind of stories I perform include:

Telling Stories to Children

I have 7 years' experience of running story and song sessions with the Under 5s, gained through working first in the Children's Library team, and then as an Early Years Library Outreach worker for Enfield Libraries. I've been involved with helping children in Hackney to learn radio skills with The Ministry of Stories, and have experience of working with a wide range of age groups. I have training and experience of working with special needs children. I've had training in child protection and using multi-sensory props and stories.

I can provide entertainment and education to children aged between 2 and 6 in a party, community group or school setting. I can also provide or support audio workshops for primary and secondary aged children.

I co-produced The Ministry of Stories for Cbeebies, and am interested in combining my other creative skills with my knowledge of children's work to make stories for and with children.

Social Media Stories

I ran the social media for Spark London for a year and a half, and I still pitch in as part of their wider team. I also oversee Stand Up Tragedy's social media strategy. I set a daily theme on Twitter called #ThePush for people who write very short stories (#vss). I'm interested and excited by the possibilities that social media offers for storytelling and engaging with audiences.

News Stories

I write comment and cultural and political commentary pieces both via social media and as blogs.
